Panel and Log Homes
Log
Homes are unique and rustic. They
can be very cost effective, particularly if the
builder erects the log walls himself. One
national bank has determined a log home
will appraise at 10% to 12% more than a stick built home!
This gives the log home
owner an immediate “value windfall” upon completion.
Some log home companies have construction classes for their Dealers.
One
national log home company has the option of having the log walls erected at the
factory. Once the log walls are up
the rest of the home is finished like any other
residence, utilizing this method.
Panel homes are usually very cost effective and are built in a relatively short
period of time, since a great deal of the labor is performed in a factory.
The downside is that there may be a limited number of options available,
although some companies will build from any set of plans that you
provide. Also, panel homes tend to be difficult to remodel or add on
to at a later date.
